Astute's Nuclear Team is partnering with Fayat Lifting, a leading lifting and engineering specialist supporting the Hinkley Point C project, to recruit an Appointed Person / Mechanical Design Engineer for its Bridgwater, Somerset site. Responsibilities and duties:
- Produce detailed lifting plans using SolidWorks, AutoCAD and CAD software.
- Act as a qualified CPCS Appointed Person, ensuring all lifting operations comply with LOLER, HPC lifting standards and site safety requirements.
- Develop installation procedures, method statements and task-specific risk assessments.
- Design temporary works to support lifting and installation activities.
- Supervise the technical aspects of site works and brief lifting teams on approved lift plans.
- Coordinate technical queries with NNB GenCo, Responsible Designers and client representatives.
- Support quality documentation, including Field Change Requests (FCRs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).
- Maintain and update as-built documentation and engineering drawings.
- Promote a strong nuclear safety culture across all lifting operations.
Professional qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
- CPCS A61 Appointed Person qualification (essential).
- Proven experience producing lifting plans using CAD software such as SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
- At least three years' experience within lifting operations and engineering design.
- Experience within the nuclear industry or another highly regulated engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of LOLER regulations, lifting standards and safe systems of work.
- Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
