Responsibilities and duties of the Sales Engineer role
- Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will:
- Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve annual revenue and business growth objectives.
- Identify, qualify and convert new business opportunities across sectors including waste management, agriculture, local authorities and industrial customers.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, consultants, contractors and key industry stakeholders.
- Generate new opportunities through networking, market research, referrals and proactive business development activity.
- Work closely with the engineering team to develop technically and commercially competitive proposals.
- Provide regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates and market feedback to senior management.
- Monitor market trends, customer requirements and competitor activity to support future business strategy.
- Represent the company at exhibitions, conferences and industry events to strengthen market presence.
- Lead commercial negotiations through to contract award and handover.
- Expand the company's aftersales and operations & maintenance service agreements across existing anaerobic digestion facilities.
Professional qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
- Experience in technical sales, sales engineering or business development.
- Background in anaerobic digestion, biogas, wastewater, waste management or renewable energy.
- Good understanding of renewable energy technologies and plant processes.
- Knowledge of UK environmental regulations and permitting is desirable.
- Commercial awareness, including project costing, CAPEX/OPEX and ROI.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
