Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company to recruit for Chief (Principal) Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to support with DCS, failsafe, PLCs and Cyber Security across their fleet of Energy from Waste Power Stations. This will be a hybrid role with national travel.

The vital Chief C&I Engineer role comes with a basic salary of c.£78,000 + £6,500 car allowance + overtime + up to 10% bonus + Private Medical + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Chief C&I Engineer role

  • Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for:
  • Setting standards across the sites undertaking planned and unplanned maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operation across the fleet
  • Carry out plant inspections and area safety inspections
  • Work as part of the central engineering team for continuous improvement to minimise H&S risks across the fleet
  • Be the subject matter expert for ATEX, functional safety, Beames, DCS, operational technology and cyber security
  • Support the fleet during times of outages and system upgrades
  • Provide technical support for DCS, PLC and SCADA systems including logic, configuration, graphics, I/O and interface management.
  • Develop and maintain C&I specifications, standards, philosophies and engineering documentation
  • Support the functional safety lifecycle in accordance with IEC 61511

Professional qualifications

  • A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering subject
  • A formal Health and Safety qualification such as IOSH or NEBOSHA
  • A full UK driving licence is a necessity given the nature of the role
  • A functional safety certificate (TUV or ISA) will be advantageous

Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge

  • The Chief C&I Engineer role would suit someone who has:
  • Experience working in industrial engineering environments such as Power Stations, Petrochemicals, Paper Mills, Steelworks, Refineries, etc.
  • Extensive experience working with DCS/PLC systems
  • Good knowledge of CMMS
  • Functional safety lifecycle experience
  • Operational Technology network and cyber security awareness
