Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is a key role within the Finance team, responsible for producing monthly management accounts whilst managing a Finance Assistant and supporting the Head of Finance on strategic initiatives and business partnering with non-finance stakeholders across the group.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Produce monthly management accounts, with supporting commentary and variance analysis.
  • Partner with budget holders to ensure clear understanding of financial performance and budget monitoring information.
  • Manage VAT accounting processes effectively, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and adherence to financial policies and procedures.
  • Review and strengthen financial controls on an ongoing basis, ensuring they remain robust and scalable and support the implementation of new digital ways of working.
  • Monitor expenditure against budgets, providing timely and insightful analysis.
  • Work closely with budget holders to support effective financial planning, forecasting and spend phasing.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members where required.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, proactively identifying solutions and enhancing service delivery.

Required Qualifications and Aptitudes

  • Experience in a similar Finance Manager or Management Accountant role preparing monthly management accounts and managing and delivering month-end processes.
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and financial practices.
  • Confident and collaborative, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with senior stakeholders and as part of a team.
  • Strong IT skills including Excel and other systems experience.
