Astute Recruitment are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our client’s finance team in South Derbyshire. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Finance Department, with responsibility for a range of transactional finance and accounting duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Banking receipts
  • Bank payments
  • Bank reconciliations (very minimal daily transactions)
  • Monitoring outstanding debtors
  • Setting up the weekly payment run (Wednesday for Friday payment)
  • Inputting wages from branch timesheets
  • Month-end payment run
  • Processing salaries and pensions (training will be provided; high accuracy required due to manual elements)
  • Managing credit cards: issuing statements on the second working day, allowing two days for responses, then processing
  • Processing expenses
  • Supplier set-up
  • Credit checks
  • Invoice processing
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous finance experience in a similar transactional accounts role
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience using accounting systems and Excel
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • A proactive team player with good communication skills
