Astro Education is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to support SEN and intervention work with Year 6 pupils at a Primary School in Stoke-on-Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated TA who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential, particularly in preparation for Key Stage 2 SATs and transition to secondary school.

About the Opportunity

Astro Education seeks to recruit a Teaching Assistant for a primary school to cover on a long-term basis. The role will start immediately and continue until the end of the academic year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1:1 and small group intervention support for Year 6 pupils
  • Supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Delivering targeted literacy and numeracy interventions
  • Helping pupils build confidence and independence in learning
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo to monitor progress
  • Supporting preparation for end of Key Stage 2 assessments

Requirements

  • Experience working as a Teaching Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant in a primary school
  • Experience supporting intervention groups or SEN pupils
  • A minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • A patient, flexible and supportive approach
  • The ability to work effectively within a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Availability to work full-time school hours
