Astro Education are currently supporting a specialist school in South Manchester that is looking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis.

The school provides education and support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

With small class sizes and a highly supportive environment, the school is committed to helping every pupil achieve their potential.

The Role As an HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral and support team to provide high-quality learning and behavioural support.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Supporting teaching and learning across small SEN/SEMH classes.
  • Delivering learning activities and interventions as directed by teaching staff.
  • Providing individual and small-group support to pupils.
  • Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Helping to create a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Building strong, positive relationships with pupils.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and senior leaders.
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for an HLTA who is:
  • Experienced working within SEN, SEMH or a similar specialist setting.
  • Confident supporting pupils with additional needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Calm, patient, resilient and consistent.
  • Able to build positive relationships with children and young people.
  • Confident taking responsibility for learning activities and small groups.
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning. What's on Offer?
