About the Opportunity
Astro Education are working in partnership with several warm and welcoming primary schools across Newcastle and Stoke-on-Trent to recruit Teaching Assistants to join primary school teams immediately. These Teaching Assistant roles are ongoing, flexible, part-time or full-time positions, starting immediately, supporting children in primary settings. Our partner schools are committed to creating inclusive, engaging learning environments, and are looking for individuals who are passionate about supporting pupils to reach their full potential.
The Role
- Support the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons
- Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to support learning
- Assist with the preparation and organisation of classroom resources
- Help maintain a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils with varying abilities, including those with additional needs
- Encourage pupil engagement, confidence and independence
- Assist with classroom management and behaviour support
- Support the delivery of phonics, reading, writing and maths activities
- Observe and report on pupil progress and development
- Contribute to the overall wellbeing and safeguarding of pupils
- Work collaboratively with teachers, TAs and wider school staff
- Support with playtime, lunchtime or transitions where required
