We are looking for a Cover Supervisor and PE Technician / Football Coach to join our staff team at Stoke Damerel Community College and Scott Medical and Healthcare College Campus. This is a temporary position until 31 August 2027. The role supports the smooth running of a dynamic PE department, delivers high‑quality PE lessons across a wide range of activities, and provides whole‑school cover when required. You will also coach the Year 7 Football Performance Pathway in partnership with Argyle Community Trust. Salary is calculated in line with the NJC Grade D pay scale, points 08‑14 (£26,824 – £29,540 per annum, pro‑rated £23,132 – £25,474). Contractual hours 37. Basis Part‑Time.

Key Responsibilities

  • PE Technician – Provide technical and practical support to ensure the smooth and effective running of a dynamic PE department. Key duties: maintain equipment, update risk assessments, and support the delivery of a broad and engaging PE curriculum.
  • PE Cover Supervisor – Confidently deliver high‑quality PE lessons across a range of activities and age groups, ensuring curriculum continuity and high learning standards. Adapt teaching approaches to meet all learners’ needs and keep students motivated, active and challenged. Support assessment, student progress and positive outcomes within examination PE. Assist staff with intervention groups and targeted support where appropriate. Promote healthy lifestyles, teamwork, resilience and positive attitudes towards physical activity.
  • Whole School Cover Supervisor – Supervise whole‑class learning across a range of curriculum subjects during staff absence, implement effective behaviour strategies and support students in remaining focused and on task.
  • Football Academy Coach – Year 7 Performance Pathway – Support the development of the college’s Year 7 Football Performance Pathway: deliver coaching sessions, strength and conditioning, monitor player progress, and promote professionalism and commitment among academy players. Contribute to enrichment activities, educational visits, fixtures and wider school events. Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external partners, demonstrating flexibility, reliability and continuous professional development.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong academic record – English and Maths at Grade C, 4/5 or equivalent.
  • Experience working with or supervising students, including knowledge of behavioural and learning difficulties.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clarify and explain instructions.
  • Understanding of relevant policies, codes of practice and legislation.
  • Relevant teaching, coaching, officiating and leadership qualifications.
  • Qualified to PGCE/QTS.
  • Experience within PE, school sport or coaching environments.
  • Strong knowledge of health and fitness training principles.
  • Strong experience coaching football within a school or club setting.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to motivate and inspire young people.
