Being an Academy Committee member is a hugely rewarding form of voluntary work. Governors make a real difference to our pupils and our local community by actively contributing to the success of our academies. We welcome applications from people with diverse skills, fresh perspectives and new ideas that complement the experience of our academy leadership teams. Applications are invited from those with prior chairing or governance experience. No background knowledge of the education sector is required; we seek diverse skills, fresh perspectives, and new ideas. Becoming a governor can also be beneficial for your career. Your Commitment
- Ensuring every child in an academy reaches their full potential by holding the Executive Principal and Principal accountable for academy performance.
- Ensuring the curriculum intent and quality of education are appropriate for the students.
- Contributing to the development of strategic priorities and monitoring achievement towards targets, ensuring they are clear, ambitious, and will raise school improvement sustainably.
The Academy Committee meets on Tuesday evenings at 4 pm, six times per year at Tuxford Primary Academy and via Microsoft Teams. Meetings typically last up to two hours, and governors devote additional time to prepare for meetings, attend training and academy events. Governors may also be asked to become a link governor for a particular area of academy life.
