Senior Scientist – Asymmetric Catalysis and High-Throughput Experimentation

b Overview /b p In this role you will design and execute catalytic reactions, interpret data, and guide next steps to advance asymmetric catalysis projects. You will work within the Catalysis and High-Throughput Experimentation team to apply HTE, high-pressure chemistry, and automation for scalable pharmaceutical processes. Collaboration with drug project teams and external partners will drive the development of new medicines. This position offers exposure to glovebox-enabled workflows and state-of-the-art HTE capabilities, contributing to AZ’s mission of sustainable, impactful therapies. /p b Responsibilities /b ul li Design and execute catalytic reactions and interpret results to plan subsequent steps /li li Maintain up-to-date knowledge of asymmetric catalysis and related literature /li li Select appropriate methods for experimental work, leveraging high-pressure, HTE, and automation as suitable /li li Collaborate with catalysis, drug project teams, and external academics to advance medicinal chemistry /li li Work within a team to deliver high-quality scientific outcomes /li /ul b Key requirements /b ul li PhD in organic synthesis and/or catalysis or BSc/MSc with relevant industrial experience /li li Experience with high-throughput experimentation (HTE) and running pressure reactions /li li Strong understanding of synthetic reagents, reaction mechanisms, and analytical techniques /li li Evidence of scientific innovation (publications, patents, or presentations) /li li Team-oriented and collaborative working style /li /ul ul li Excellent communication across disciplines and cultures /li li Coaching and leadership potential /li li Strong collaboration and teamwork mindset /li li Asymmetric catalysis /li li High-throughput experimentation (HTE) /li li High-pressure reaction techniques /li /ul
