We're looking for a Maintenance Lead to join our Utilities team at AstraZeneca in Macclesfield.

You'll lead activities related to the upkeep and servicing of assets, helping us deliver safe, reliable and high-performing engineering systems while improving skills throughout the team. Here is a chance to combine your engineering proficiency with people leadership.

You'll mentor and support engineering staff, technical specialists, and those coordinating engineering efforts, develop asset care strategies and help embed maintenance excellence across the engineering team.

What you'll do:

As our Maintenance Lead, you'll: Lead the delivery of asset and energy performance across the Utilities departmentDevelop and implement effective strategies for asset maintenance and repairLead, mentor and develop engineers, technicians and engineering coordinatorsApply your engineering expertise to improve asset availability, performance and output qualityEnsure maintenance activities are effectively planned, resourced and deliveredMentor teams in maintenance, equipment management, and problem-solving methodologiesIdentify equipment risks, including obsolescence, and develop appropriate mitigationUse asset performance data to identify trends and opportunities for improvementLead ongoing improvement efforts, including equipment upgrades, replacement and optimisationHelp embed Lean principles and standardised ways of workingSupport audits and regulatory inspections within your area of responsibilityLead engineering change controls associated with improvement activitiesWork with internal teams, technical specialists and external service providers to drive performanceMaintain high standards concerning safety, GxP regulations, and engineering protocolsHandle relevant budgets, resources, suppliers and service agreements efficiently.

Lead and nurture your team: People leadership is an important part of this role.

You will guide a team that includes Engineering Technicians, an Engineering Coordinator and junior engineers working on maintenance and continuous improvement activities. We'll look to you to create an environment where people can perform at their best.

You'll set clear goals, coach and develop your team, support individual development and encourage open communication and collaboration. Drive maintenance perfection: You'll take a proactive approach to asset care, ensuring we have the right maintenance strategies, resources and capabilities in place to support reliable performance. You'll bring together technical knowledge, performance data and engineering procedure to understand potential failure mechanisms, improve maintenance effectiveness and optimise asset performance.

You'll also help strengthen capability across the wider department by coaching colleagues in asset care and maintenance methodologies.

What we are searching for: We are seeking someone with: A relevant engineering degree or recognised engineering training route, such as an apprenticeshipSignificant shown experience of assets and asset management practices within a highly regulated environmentStrong engineering and maintenance knowledge, capable of contributing technical expertise across asset performance and equipment upkeepExperience coaching and supporting others in engineering or maintenance activitiesAn understanding of SHE, GxP and engineering compliance requirementsUsing data and performance measures to support maintenance and asset care decisionsA collaborative approach, with the ability to build effective relationships across different teams and fields.

It would be great if you also have: You don't need to tick every box, but having the following would be beneficial: Chartered or working towards Chartership with an appropriate engineering institution.
