Overview
In this role you lead Data & AI risk at scale, shaping a safe, compliant data-driven enterprise.
You partner with business leaders to embed risk-aware practices into initiatives, balancing innovation with regulatory and ethical standards.
You’ll drive enterprise risk visibility, framing decisions for senior governance forums and enabling confident, timely action.
You’ll steer cross-functional teams to create reusable, enterprise-wide risk capabilities that scale with AI deployments.

Responsibilities
- Define and own the enterprise approach to identifying, assessing, and managing Data & AI risks across strategic, operational, ethical, and regulatory dimensions
- Integrate Data & AI risk into broader Enterprise Risk Management processes to align risk appetite with technology ambitions
- Surface material Data & AI risks early and manage them at the enterprise level with clear trade-offs between innovation and control
- Challenge mitigations, drive remediation, and escalate when risks exceed appetite or controls fail
- Provide harmonised risk positions to support senior leadership decisions on risk appetite
- Oversee enterprise-level risk aggregation, reporting, and insight for Data & AI risks
- Establish and lead the operating model for Data & AI Risk Management with clear accountability and governance forums
- Continuously improve risk management processes by incorporating stakeholder feedback and external best practices
- Advise on complex Data & AI use cases to enable proportionate risk decisions while allowing innovation to move forward
- Partner with Business, Project Teams, and Data Offices to embed risk management from the start of initiatives
- Build relationships with Legal, Compliance, IT, and Privacy to align risk approaches
- Own interactions with Group Internal Audit related to Data & AI risk and remediation tracking
- Identify opportunities to accelerate data enablement and AI deployment within risk appetite
- Demonstrate collaborative behaviours across functions and levels to co-create solutions
- Synthesize complex issues into concise narratives for high-stakes discussions and drive alignment
- Demonstrate executive presence in engagements with senior leadership and governance bodies
- Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
- Significant senior experience in risk management, assurance, governance, or second-line oversight
- Proven ability to build and lead a high-performing Data & AI risk team
- Champion a culture of responsible data & AI use
- Demonstrated project leadership and stakeholder influence skills
