We are seeking a strategic and inspiring Senior Director, Customer Engagement to lead a group of forward-deployed engineering teams within Commercial IT. This role will be accountable for shaping and delivering the technology capabilities that bring together CRM, MarTech, and Content into a connected customer engagement ecosystem, enabling our Customer 2030 vision and supporting Ambition 2030.
Key ResponsibilitiesThis leader will operate at the intersection of business strategy, product thinking, and engineering execution, partnering closely with Commercial, Enterprise AI and Enterprise Technology teams to accelerate delivery of customer-centric solutions. The role is critical to modernising how we plan, orchestrate, personalise, and measure customer engagement across channels and markets.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience leading technology organisations in Commercial IT, digital customer engagement within a dynamic enterprise environment. They will have a strong background of translating business strategy into technology roadmaps and delivering enterprise-scale solutions that develop measurable impact. They should have deep expertise across CRM, marketing technology, and content platforms, with strong understanding of how these capabilities combine to support omnichannel engagement, customer journeys, personalisation, and content effectiveness. Experience leading engineering, platform, or product-aligned delivery teams is essential, as is the ability to operate effectively across business and technical domains.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong people leadership, including experience building and developing high-performing global teams, leading through change, and creating an inclusive and collaborative culture. They should also bring strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders and align diverse teams around a common vision. Experience with modern software engineering practices, agile delivery, integration patterns, and enterprise governance is important, along with sound understanding of risk, privacy, security, and compliance in a regulated environment.
Essential Requirements:- Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Deep knowledge of customer engagement ecosystems, including CRM platforms, marketing automation technologies, content supply chain/content management platforms, and omnichannel engagement capabilities.
- Demonstrated success in partnering with senior business stakeholders to define strategy, prioritise investments, and deliver measurable outcomes.
- Proven experience leading engineering, platform, or product delivery teams at scale in Salesforce & Adobe ecosystem.
- Experience in modern software delivery practices, including agile ways of working, product-centric delivery models & AI driven SDLC.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, data integration, and interoperability across commercial platforms.
- Experience operating in regulated environments with attention to privacy, compliance, governance, and risk management.
- Strong people leadership skills, with experience building high-performing, diverse, and globally distributed teams.
- Ability to travel 10-20% annually for business needs.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries.
- Experience with AI/ML-enabled customer engagement, content intelligence, or decisioning platforms.
- Track record of leading transformation initiatives that connect technology modernisation with business model change.
- Experience working across global and local market structures, balancing enterprise scale with market-specific needs.
