Location and Work Pattern

Luton, Horizon Place. In-person working is preferred with a minimum of three days per week in the office. We balance office presence with flexibility to support individual needs.

About the Opportunity

In this role you will assist in the coordination and administration of AstraZeneca clinical trials running in the UK. You will be a key member of our Local Study Team (LST), helping to ensure trials are run according to clinical trial regulations and local operating procedures. You will support meeting time, quality and cost objectives. Our clinical studies span respiratory, oncology, cardiovascular, renal and metabolic diseases. You will be involved in all stages of a clinical study, including regular communication with hospital trusts and internal stakeholders. You will be placed within either our Oncology, or Biopharma (non-Oncology) team for the duration of the placement.

Responsibilities

  • Support practical arrangements and contributions to internal and external meetings (e.g., local study team meetings, monitor meetings, UK trial site meetings).
  • Liaise with internal local/global study team members, external stakeholders, and clinical trial systems/suppliers/vendors.
  • Assist in preparation, review and tracking of documents for the ethical and regulatory trial approval process.
  • Engage with physicians (clinical trial Investigators), research nurses and other external service providers to support document/data collection and system setup/maintenance for effective delivery of the trials.
  • Help oversee hospital site payments by coordinating with internal and external finance teams, including raising invoice proposals, checking/processing invoices, and tracking payments. Support cross-study tasks and departmental initiatives.
  • Set up the local electronic Trial Master File (eTMF) and Investigator Site Files (ISF) in line with global/local standards including ICH/GCP; contribute to production and maintenance of study documents with template/version control throughout the trial lifecycle.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Currently undertaking an undergraduate or integrated master’s degree in a Life Science subject, with the opportunity to spend 1 year in industry starting in September 2026.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders; able to present information effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well under pressure and multi-task in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organization and time management, including flexibility.
