The Transforming Care Digital Health Manager reports to the Transforming Care Lead and is responsible for building and delivering our Digital Health strategy that drives the Transforming Care agenda forward. Through embedding digital health into oncology pathways, we aim to improve patient outcomes, drive healthcare system innovation and work towards sustainable and scalable partnerships. The Transforming Care agenda is central to AstraZeneca's mission to eliminate cancer as a cause of death, reflecting the company's commitment to partnering with the healthcare system to overcome barriers that prevent patients from accessing innovative medicines.
Through horizon scanning, deep subject matter expertise on digital health products and understanding of the NHS innovation ecosystem, the Transforming Care Digital Health Manager will improve oncology pathways by identifying, building and partnering with appropriate HealthTech and MedTech partners. This role will work with cross-functional teams to understand pathway challenges and reimagine how pathways can perform through integration of digital health programmes. The primary purpose of this role is to lead on the Transforming Care digital health strategy and implementation, including working with partners to generate appropriate evidence that enables point of care adoption.
This role will need to deliver end-to-end management of digital health projects, engaging partners through project scoping, negotiation, finalisation, delivery, evaluation and close. The Transforming Care Digital Health Manager will be the Transforming Care point of contact for digital health programmes and will lead cross-functional teams to improve patient outcomes through innovation. This role sits within a broader Transforming Care team who are responsible for defining and implementing against the Transforming Care agenda.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute the Transforming Care Digital Health strategy as part of the broader Transforming Care agenda. This will be aligned to franchise tumour strategy plans, identifying opportunities to embed digital health solutions into oncology pathways.
- Conduct horizon scanning and ecosystem mapping to identify emerging HealthTech and MedTech partners and NHS innovation opportunities that align with the Transforming Care agenda.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with HealthTech and MedTech companies, NHS innovation hubs, digital health platforms (including EMIS, SystmOne) and stakeholders that will support with scale and adoption of digital health programmes.
- Lead end-to-end management of digital health projects, including partner identification, scoping, negotiation, planning, execution and timely delivery, within budget, and with measurable outcomes.
- Design and implement evidence generation strategies in collaboration with internal AstraZeneca functions, technology partners and NHS stakeholders to demonstrate clinical and cost-effectiveness that supports point of care adoption.
- Engage with senior NHS stakeholders including clinical leads, CCIOs, digital transformation leads and operational teams to understand digital maturity, priorities and barriers to adoption.
- Monitor and evaluate programme performance using appropriate metrics, generating insights and recommendations for optimization and scaling across the UK.
- Share best practices and learnings across franchises, markets and within the global AstraZeneca organisation to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including MHRA guidance, NICE digital health technologies guidance, data protection requirements and NHS digital standards.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
- Deep understanding of the NHS innovation ecosystem including digital transformation initiatives, innovation pathways and key stakeholders.
- Proven experience working with HealthTech and MedTech companies and products.
- Demonstrated ability to build and execute digital health strategies that deliver measurable outcomes.
- Strong project management skills with experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder digital health programmes.
- Strategic and innovative thinking.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills.
- Desirable: Advanced Degree in a relevant field.
- Experience of pharmaceutical strategy execution through promotional or non-promotional roles.
- Experience in Oncology care and patient pathways.
- Experience with healthcare data platforms such as EPIC or similar NHS clinical systems.
- Knowledge of evidence generation methodologies for digital health technologies and NICE evidence standards framework.
- Experience with agile project management and human-centred design methodologies.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks for digital health technologies including MHRA SaMD guidance.
- Advanced communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
