We are a family run business that has been established for over 18 years and due to the increase in the volume of work, we are looking to recruit new staff to provide support to the elderly and disabled within their own homes. Experience is not always necessary as full training will be given at our premises.
Locations
We currently have permanent Full time and Part time positions in the following areas: Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- To support service users to achieve their maximum independence in daily living skills. This will include full assistance for some people.
- To support service users, where appropriate, with all aspects of personal hygiene ensuring the privacy and dignity of the person involved.
- To assist people to lead full and purposeful lives within their community and to develop a range of friendships, activities and relationships, helping people to make ordinary life choices and decisions about their lifestyles.
- To provide support consistent to Astra Care Services Ltd standards of care and other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.
- To attend and contribute to review meetings, staff meetings and training and development programmes as and when required.
- To develop, review and implement risk assessments and care plans for service users as required with the lead care coordinator.
- To ensure professional working relationships are maintained with the staff team, other professionals, relatives and service users in line with Astra Care Services Ltd codes of conduct.
- To assist individual service users to develop their self-confidence and allow them to maximise opportunities for choices and decisions, as identified in the care plan/risk assessment.
- To undertake the duties associated with domiciliary care, supporting service users in undertaking activities, including cooking, cleaning, shopping, washing, ironing and gardening etc.
- To liaise with the appropriate services to ensure that service users needs are met and they have access to community facilities and resources.
- To administer and manage medication, where appropriate, in accordance with the medications policy and procedures.
- To enable service users to manage their own finances or to provide appropriate support where required in accordance with Astra Care Services Ltd service user personal finances policy.
- To be aware of your own, and service users health and safety, acting in accordance with Astra Care Services Ltd health and safety procedures.
- To use a creative approach in helping people to retain or regain their leisure, social skills and interest in line with the care plan.
- To undertake written recording and reporting of activities or incidents as required.
- To understand the needs of the business and the contract between Astra Care and the Local Council.
- To work as part of a team to ensure that Astra Care Services does not have a breakdown in service delivery.

- Candidates must have an interest and aptitude in working with people.
- Understanding of the needs of people with varying and complex needs.
- Be able to implement care in accordance with the care plan.
- Willingness to experience new situations and work with people who can be challenging.
- Be able to work as part of a team and be able to work on their own initiative.
- Process good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop opportunities for activities in the service users home.
- Able to show empathy and a positive and caring approach to service users.
- The post is subject to stringent recruitment and selection processes, no job offer will be made until a clear Enhanced DBS First check has been undertaken.
