I am currently recruiting for temporary chefs to work for a number of events in Carnoustie and the surrounding areas. The events can be anything from cooking to multi Rosette standards as well as more basic menus. The events can be anything from a handful of guests right up to 1000 for a full plated service meal. The vast majority of our clients use fresh produce and prepare a significant amount of their food from scratch, so we generally need chefs who have been formally trained and have extensive experience cooking with fresh ingredients. The sites vary from large busy kitchens with over 30 chefs through to more ‘adhoc’ set-ups in marquees and private kitchens.
Relief Chef duties may include:
- Prep and finish food for a wide variety of events including formal plated meals, buffets, casual dining, fine dining and some more unusual bespoke food requests
- Running sections or stations of the kitchen during service
- Set up, breakdown and cleaning various areas of the kitchen and ensuring relevant health & hygiene procedures are followed
Who we're looking for:
Many of our events chefs are people who have full time jobs and work the occasional day off for some extra experience and money. Others may have other commitments such as study or family and appreciate the flexibility of being able to work at occasional events. The kind of events chefs our clients ask us to supply them with are hardworking, punctual and reliable chefs with a good attitude who, most importantly appreciate that in events catering it is ‘all hands on deck’, so are willing to help with everything from food prep and service to helping set up and disassemble the kitchen at the end of the event.
- Have a relevant level of experience within quality kitchens
- Hold either an NVQ level 3, 7061/2 or equivalent qualifications
- Are relief chefs that are able to work at short notice and can pick up new menus quickly
- Ideally have their own transport, or can easily get to several locations across Carnoustie and the surrounding areas
- Have a positive attitude and work ethic
What's on offer:
We work closely with our clients to try and provide the right roles for our event chefs alongside competitive hourly rates typically around £11-15ph. We aim to work with clients that deliver interesting and high quality events.
