The Department
Aston Villa Football Club are building a stage for magical memories in our redevelopment and expansion of Villa Park to create a world class sports and entertainment venue and a thriving community hub. We have already opened our Sports Illustrated Warehouse and we are currently working on increasing Villa Park’s capacity to over 50,000.
At the heart of every successful project is our Health and Safety department who are dedicated to promoting a strong safety culture and legal compliance across all areas of the Club, fostering trust and ultimately protecting our staff, partners and fans to ensure they can perform at their best. To help us bring our vision to life we have an exciting opportunity for a Fire Compliance and Safety Officer to join the team.
The Role
You will support the delivery of a comprehensive and structured fire safety programme across all Club sites, predominantly focusing on Villa Park. You will also assist in ensuring that Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) and all associated documentation are reviewed at least annually, maintaining accurate records and adhering to agreed timelines that align with our operational requirements. Reporting to the Fire Safety Manager and working closely with the Vice President of Health & Safety, you will utilise the MyCompliance system to record findings, recommendations, and actions, while proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen fire safety compliance and continuous improvement across the Club.
A key aspect of the role is providing expert fire safety support and advice across a wide range of Club activities, projects, and venues. This includes identifying fire safety risks and compliance gaps, advising on CDM requirements, and contributing to special projects such as reviewing venue capacities and calculating revised occupancy levels following alterations or changes of use. You will play an important role in making sure we can achieve our ambitious goals whilst ensuring the Club remains compliant with current and emerging fire safety legislation and best practice standards.
The Person
You must hold a Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Fire Safety (Fire Inspector) or an equivalent qualification and have a strong understanding of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. You will be a confident communicator with a track record of planning, delivering, and evaluating fire safety training programmes within an organisation whilst being comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
You must have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Highly organised and proactive, you will be able to manage multiple priorities, work to deadlines, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
You may be required to travel between our sites in this role so a UK driving licence with access to your own vehicle is desirable but if not, you must have be able to travel between our Club sites. You must also be able to work flexibly as the Club requires, which will include working evenings and weekends as and when required.
