We aim to advise and provide high quality knowledge to our stakeholders across the First Team and Academy (Men’s and Women’s) respectfully, methodically and efficiently.

2. The Role

Though our Club is 150 years old, you’ll be building something new for the first time in its history: greenfield technology that lays the foundations for our football future.

As a Full-Stack Developer, your role will be to develop our bespoke football applications that connect all football departments. You will play a crucial role in converting a variety of valuable football data into intuitive and informative interfaces, using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. React, Next.js), to enable football stakeholders to make evidence-based decisions and gain competitive advantages on and off the pitch.

You will be responsible for translating designs from designers (in Figma) into applications to meet product requirements (with BDD acceptance criteria) and contribute to the development of resilient backend microservices and APIs in Python (e.g. FastAPI). You will support the development and maintenance of a scalable and secure backend infrastructure using modern authentication (e.g. OIDC) and authorisation (e.g. JWT, RBAC, ABAC) protocols.

You’ll make sure to write clean and testable code using automated test frameworks (e.g. pytest, Jest, Cypress) to so that your code is maintainable and built to last. You’ll also contribute to our CI/CD processes (GitHub Actions), create reusable component libraries to accelerate development cycles, as well as contribute to technical discussions and code reviews to shape our best practices.

For further information about the Role, please see the Role Profile.

3. The Person

We are seeking an adaptable, experienced and user-focused individual to join the team.

You should hold a BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience, and you must have professional experience as a Full-Stack Developer developing complex, data-rich web applications.

You will need to have expert knowledge of Typescript, React and modern frontend frameworks (preferably Next.js), alongside being proficient in creating responsive interfaces, with modern CSS techniques and component-based principles.

You’ll also have experience building backend microservices and APIs (preferably in Python) and have implemented effective authentication and authorisation protocols to protect platform data.

Ideally, you will also have cloud experience with AWS, DevOps experience building CI/CD pipelines and have worked with data visualisation libraries (e.g. D3.js, Chart,.js, Plotly).
