Join Our Dynamic Student Counselling Team at Aston University!

Qualifications

Accredited Psychotherapist or Counsellor with a Level 7 or Master\’s (MSc) qualification, three years post‑qualification supervised practice and current BACP, UKCP/HPC, BABCP, or BPS accreditation; extensive experience providing brief counselling, preferably in higher education or a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

Provide short‑term culturally competent therapeutic counselling (typically six sessions) to students dealing with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties (anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, self‑harm, university‑related pressures). Conduct individual interventions, risk assessments, and respond effectively to students in need. Contribute beyond one‑to‑one sessions by delivering well‑being activities and supporting the drop‑in desk. The role is predominantly in‑person on campus with year‑round presence.
