Overview
Our dynamic and over-subscribed STEM academy is made up of Aston University Sixth Form and Aston University STEM Education Academy Trust (AUSEAT). The Sixth Form has over 450 learners following pathways in academic STEM A levels, or Vocational technical courses in Engineering, Health, Science, or Business. AUSEAT has 81 students per year from Years 9-11. Both phases share a building on the edge of our Sponsor Aston University. Due to success and expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our 100% specialist Mathematics department within our dynamic, diverse, and over-subscribed academy (University Technical College). Maths is a vital element of our unique UTC STEM curriculum; we work closely with the NCETM and AMSP. We are a centre of Maths within Birmingham hosting events such as Women in Maths, UK MT and Math Feast, and we underpin the STEM curriculum and support cross-curricular work in Engineering. This role would suit teachers seeking more flexible arrangements around childcare, phased retirement, or industry / armed forces colleagues wishing to blend teaching alongside other roles.
We are looking for an innovative and creative Mathematician who is passionate about a love of Maths learning and its applications to the real world. Due to the vast majority of our students being Post 16, there is the increased opportunity to teach A Level Maths and Further Maths, Level 3 Mathematical Studies.
