Aston Business School is a Triple Accredited University (EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA) and one of the leading Universities in the UK for academic research. The Accounting and Finance Department has nearly 50 staff specialising in accounting and finance. The finance group manages and delivers a successful undergraduate programme in finance and four postgraduate programmes, as well as supporting a wide range of programmes across the rest of the School.

The core research and scholarly activity areas of focus currently within the finance group are: asset pricing, volatility forecasting, real options, digital finance, blockchain and cryptocurrency, sustainable finance, financial stability, applied financial econometrics, corporate finance, and corporate governance.

There is a thriving teaching innovation and research culture in the Department, which has a strong reputation for being both rigorous and relevant. We are seeking an inspirational and highly motivated individual to contribute to the delivery of the Department's teaching by providing maternity cover for a period of up to 16 months, ideally commencing 1 October 25 and ending 31 January 27. The successful candidate will provide teaching and related administrative support across a range of modules and will be expected to play a role in the continuous development of our teaching portfolio.

We are looking for candidates who are interested in making original contributions to scholarship in the discipline, including publishing outcomes in professional journals and sharing findings at conferences and seminars.

You will have a good first degree, a PhD, and/or relevant professional qualifications, teaching qualifications and experience in a finance or closely related subject discipline. Industry experience in finance is desirable.

A successful appointee will be expected to contribute to, develop and enhance the teaching and scholarship activities of the School both independently and as part of a team. Additionally, they will develop external links with regional, UK and international bodies as appropriate to the subject discipline and School strategy.
