Aston Murray is recruiting a Group Financial Controller on behalf of a private equity–backed, rapidly growing, multi-site B2C services business based in Derby. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Group Financial Controller will play a critical role in scaling the finance function and supporting the business through an ambitious buy-and-build growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop the finance team
  • Deliver timely, accurate consolidated monthly management accounts
  • Produce and support board pack financial reporting and commentary
  • Oversee cashflow, liquidity, and working capital management
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
  • Manage covenant reporting and lender relationships
  • Drive improvements in financial systems, processes, and controls
  • Strengthen the overall financial control environment
  • Lead post-acquisition finance integration for new sites
  • Manage relationships with external advisors (auditors, banks, tax advisors, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with all UK statutory and regulatory reporting requirements

Candidate Profile

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience leading and developing finance teams
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to operate at both detail and board level
  • Experience in a private equity–backed environment is desirable but not essential
