We are looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to join our small team at Aston Keeper. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys more than simply working through a list of routine jobs. Our technicians encounter everything from servicing and maintenance to diagnostics, fault-finding, mechanical repairs and more involved project work, so no two weeks are quite the same.
Previous Aston Martin experience is not essential. We are looking for someone with solid mechanical fundamentals, good diagnostic instincts and the confidence to approach unfamiliar problems methodically. Specialist knowledge can be developed; the right attitude, workmanship and mechanical judgement are much harder to teach.
As part of a small workshop team, you will have the opportunity to take greater ownership of jobs, follow problems through from diagnosis to completion and develop your capabilities as the business grows. This would particularly suit a technician who enjoys understanding why something has failed, takes pride in the standard of their work and would like to move away from a high-volume workshop environment into a more specialist role.
Requirements
- Level 3 qualified Vehicle Technician/Mechanic, or equivalent
- Professional workshop experience following qualification
- Strong mechanical knowledge and practical fault-finding ability
- Competent in servicing, maintenance and general mechanical repair
- Comfortable using diagnostic equipment and technical information
- A methodical approach to diagnosing faults rather than relying on parts replacement
- High standard of workmanship and attention to detail
- Able to accurately record work carried out and communicate technical findings
- Good understanding of workshop health and safety
- Full UK driving licence
- Reliable and able to work effectively within a small team
Desirable, but not essential
- Experience with Aston Martin is welcome but is not a requirement.
- Experience with prestige, performance, classic or specialist vehicles would also be useful, as would stronger capabilities in areas such as diagnostics, electrical fault-finding, engine work or complex mechanical repair.
- Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is interested in learning, comfortable encountering problems they haven't seen before and willing to take responsibility for seeing a job through properly.
Benefits
- Competitive salary dependent on experience and capability
- Monday-Friday working (8am-5pm)
- Opportunity to develop specialist Aston Martin knowledge
- Training and ongoing technical development
- Varied workload across different models, generations and types of repair
- Opportunity to undertake diagnostics and more involved mechanical work
- Modern, well-equipped workshop
- Small, supportive workshop team
- Greater ownership of jobs from diagnosis through to completion
- Opportunity for responsibilities to grow alongside the business
- An environment focused on quality of work rather than high-volume throughput
