Description

Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities

To lead estimating activities across refurbishment, retrofit, planned maintenance and construction projects, supporting Aston Group's growth strategy by producing accurate, competitive and commercially sound tender submissions.

The role will work closely with commercial, operational and bid teams to secure profitable work and support the continued development of Aston Group's pre-construction capability.

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and pricing submissions.
  • Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
  • Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Develop cost plans and pricing strategies.
  • Identify commercial risk and opportunities.
  • Coordinate pricing activities across multiple opportunities.
  • Manage tender clarifications.
  • Contribute to win strategies and value engineering proposals.
  • Support client interviews and presentations where required.

Commercial & Operative Support

  • Support procurement and subcontractor engagement.
  • Maintain estimating records and benchmarking databases.
  • Capture lessons learned from tender outcomes and project delivery.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven estimating experience within refurbishment, maintenance or construction.
  • Experience of public-sector procurement.
  • Strong Excel and commercial analysis skills.
  • Experience obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Able to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and specifications.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Social housing experience.
  • Retrofit and decarbonisation experience.
  • Mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Quantity Surveying or Construction related qualifications.
