The ALS Manager job
As an ALS Manager, you'll be leading on the continuous improvement of SEN/ALS provision, embedding an inclusive culture and ensuring the college provides a high-quality education to their learners with additional needs. You will be responsible for coordinating with external agencies, parents and carers and managing consultations, EHCPs, and annual review paperwork. You'll be leading the creation of learner passports to implement reasonable adjustments for students with High Needs/ALN and ensuring that exam access arrangements are organised. You'll lead and inspire Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) and support apprentices through assessment, guidance, and workplace adaptations.
Qualifications & Experience required
- Experience of working in a senior ALS position within a school/college
- Degree level qualification in a relevant subject
- Pastoral and SEND experience with KS4, post 16 or adult learners
- Experience of leading the support of students with SEND, for instance as a SENCO or an ALS Coordinator or ALS Senior
- In-depth knowledge of SEND legislation and best practices
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
