As a result of its ongoing, phenomenal growth, this prestigious insurer is seeking a Large Client Underwriting Lead. You’ll see this company in the insurance press a great deal as it’s winning awards left, right and centre. It is arguably the most exciting insurer in the market right now, and there are few companies that can match the professional and career-development opportunities that it has to offer.

This is an exciting, newly-created role, which will give you the chance to really ‘put your stamp’ on it and make it your own, whilst being highly visible to the senior leadership team. As part of the Commercial Renewals department, you will play a pivotal role in this insurer’s growth targets, developing its proposition with a view to increasing its market presence and share with its key clients and broker partners.

You’ll be responsible for enhancing the experience of large clients and brokers, focusing on retention and developing strategies to renew high-value accounts. Success in this role will be measured by improved retention rates for clients generating premium income over £100K.

Key duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Working closely with the Head of Renewals, Distribution team & Senior Underwriters to agree strategies to effectively renew large clients.
  • Ensuring that the full proposition is utilised and communicated, in order to maximise opportunities.
  • Having oversight of all large cases, as well as direct ownership of agreed key cases.
  • Identifying new opportunities and cross-selling where appropriate.

In this varied role, you’ll enjoy working internally with peers to positively enhance the company’s proposition and underwriting approach to large clients. We are open to applications from both Underwriters, as well as Business Development Managers who hold some underwriting authority.

Importantly, you will have had involvement with negotiating sizeable commercial Property & Casualty / Commercial Combined risks (as opposed to micro-SME). You must be a self-starter, who is able to demonstrate effective management of corporate clients and proposition development. Just as importantly, you will be credible, engaging and collaborative, with a genuine desire to play a crucial role in building a market-leading business.

With the Renewals department being based in Leeds, it is essential that you have easy access to its incredible office there, in order for you to build strong relationships with your colleagues. Candidates from across Yorkshire and Lancashire will be considered.

You will have the opportunity to attend visits with brokers (fully-expensed), although a large part of the work can be conducted remotely via video and phone calls, should you so wish. Our client operates a hybrid-working arrangement, allowing you to work 2 days from home.

The team are well-renowned in the industry for their friendly, supportive and collaborative environment, and there are lots of sports and social events available, including an incredible annual summer ball! You will be rewarded with an attractive basic salary (Negotiable depending on experience), plus a highly lucrative 25% bonus scheme and impressive corporate benefits, which include substantial pension contributions.
