We are delighted to be partnering with this world-leading insurance company that is seeking a Development Underwriter within its highly successful Financial Lines team. This company is well-renowned for providing innovative insurance solutions, and uses its ingenuity to insure risks that others can’t.
As Development Underwriter, you will be required to source mid-market new business opportunities within the South East region, underwriting Professional and Management risks within your defined underwriting authority. You will have a strong desire to be highly visible to brokers, encouraging development meetings and telephone contact. As well as leveraging your own relationships within the broker market, you will also work closely with the Development Director to secure profitable new relationships.
Specific duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Underwriting individual risks
- Identifying and securing scheme opportunities
- Attending networking events
- Providing input to the Head of Financial Lines reporting on broker activity and new business production
You will benefit from working for a company that has a truly entrepreneurial approach to underwriting, and a genuine desire to write business. For example, should you identify an attractive Financial Lines risk that is not usually underwritten by this division, you will have the opportunity to present your case to a panel for approval, as well as collaborating with other specialist teams across the business.
This is a company that is passionate about sharing the success, and rewarding its employees for their hard work. You will benefit from a highly attractive performance-related bonus scheme.
It is essential that you have a successful track record of developing new business within the Financial Lines arena. We will consider candidates from a range of backgrounds such as Professional Indemnity, D&O / Management Liabilities, Cyber or Tech (PI). Ideally, you will have experience in a broker-facing role, although we will consider applications from New Business / Trading Underwriters who are ready to step into a broking-facing role. We will also consider applications from driven PI brokers who would like to transition into a DU role.
Crucially, you will have a proven ability to win business, whilst maintaining underwriting discipline, and as a company ambassador, you will possess first-class communication and client-management skills. You will be rewarded with an attractive basic salary (Negotiable, depending on experience), plus a market-leading bonus scheme and impressive corporate benefits, which include substantial pension contributions.
