Claims Handler (London Market Losses)
Top Insurer
RJ-3178
Leeds
Salary negotiable, plus lucrative bonus
It should be no surprise that when this dynamic insurer decided to build a Lonon Market Claims Team in the UK regions, it plumped for Leeds – it has been established locally for over 20 years, already boasts a significant claims team that comprises many of the region’s most gifted insurance professionals, and has recently invested significantly in the acquisition of penthouse offices in perhaps Leeds’ most prestigious office addresses.
It is arguably the most exciting insurance company in the market right now, using ingenuity combined with technical expertise and cutting-edge technology to underwrite risks that other insurers shy away from. This ‘can do’ attitude, coupled with an unwavering focus on client service, is serving it well; the business is currently enjoying 20% year on year growth, and is well on track to exceed its plans to double in size within 5 years.
The new London Market Claims Team has 3 distinct divisions; Professional Risks, Energy and Marine. Claims Adjusters will be working on files with reserves up to US$250,000, and some times higher on a referral basis, with the vast majority of losses coming through the broker channel. You will be responsible for managing your caseload on a cradle to grave basis; including establishing quantum, investigating the circumstances around a loss, and appointing Adjusters. You will keep accurate records of all work undertaken, regularly updating inhouse and London Market claims systems and, when required, compiling accurate management information for a range of stakeholders.
In order to obtain the best possible settlement, you must have superb problem solving and negotiation skills, a keen eye for detail and the ability to work on a number of files at any one time. You must also have excellent (internal and external) stakeholder management skills, including the ability to hold difficult conversations with people from a wide range of backgrounds. You should also be able to communicate fluently in writing and be competent working with bespoke computer packages. You’ll be highly numerate and comfortable analysing various sets of data, with the ability to spot trends and anomalies.
It is essential that you have relevant experience, either gained within a commercial claims or personal injury background – this can be from either insurers, brokers or legal firms. As there are several vacancies, we welcome applications from candidates from a range of backgrounds including EL/PL, RTA, Commercial Property etc. Equally, we welcome applications from candidates with previous London Market claims experience.
Our client is based a stone’s throw from Leeds railway station, close to the main public transport links and all the amenities the city centre has to offer. You will be welcome to work from home 1 day per week. In addition to a generous basic salary, you will receive a fantastic benefits package that includes a lucrative bonus and an impressive pension arrangement. For the ambitious, there is surely a host of opportunities for progression locally as the team continues to grow; this could be into managerial, technical or specialist roles, or moving across to other areas of the business such as Underwriting. Indeed, it is entirely feasible (but only if desired) to relocate to London and work from the City offices.
In addition to an attractive basic salary and outstanding benefits package, you’ll receive a very lucrative annual bonus.
