Job Opportunity: Purchasing has an opening for a Facility Supply Professional, located in the United Kingdom primarily working from our Shrewsbury campus. As part of the Purchasing Platform Team you will be working within a Defence environment. The role will require the management of supply network procurement related activities to support the facility to deliver its CSD targets. The role is to deliver a lean, responsive, and resilient material and services flow for the facility from source to dock. The candidate will need to demonstrate leadership in recognising the potential for cost and inventory reductions, quality improvements, and management of parts obsolescence to meet customer needs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Accountable for operating and monitoring the Shrewsbury Purchasing functions, as designed, to meet the defined response time, cost, quality and lean targets enabling optimal and efficient facility operations, collaborating with business partners and suppliers, and resolving facility specific supplier issues.
- Act as liaison with corresponding Category & Product Purchasing and Supply Chain professionals.
- Communicate and interact with all disciplines within the business including sales, finance, engineering, production, quality and supply chain to ensure understanding of the strategies, goals and targets and attain a degree of consistency and effectiveness in the sourcing activity.
- Provide expertise in the launching and management of purchase orders for a facility in terms of parts related to prototypes and production, ensuring contractual flow down terms are met.
- Accountable for managing a designated Supplier base within the Shrewsbury Procurement team, to meet the defined response time, cost, quality and lean targets enabling optimal and efficient facility operations, collaborating with business partners and suppliers, and resolving facility specific supplier issues.
- Reporting directly to the Facility Supply Manager and will be accountable for implementing the network as designed related to specific strategies from both Category & Product Supply at the Facility level to create a competitive advantage for our customers.
- Supplier Development - Identify performance gaps within the supplier base specific to the Business Unit and develop improvement plans for the identified gaps.
- Provide expertise in the launching & management of purchase orders for a facility, ensuring correct T&C’s are implemented.
Experience:
- Relevant Experience of working within a supply chain / purchasing environment.
- An undergraduate degree from a college or university, or equivalent Experience.
- Confidence in creating reports, databases and presentations within MS Excel, MS Access and MS PowerPoint.
- High levels of numeracy and strong data analytical skills, including the ability to analyse and make recommendations based on facts.
- Expert communicator: proficient in building collaborative and trusted partnerships to work across an internal matrix organization and external Supplier network.
- Candidate must have a clean driving licence.
- Experience of MRP systems – QAD EE preferred.
- Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred, e.g. CIPS.
- Demonstrated Experience of working in a supply chain / purchasing function within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Quality, Lean manufacturing, an understanding of lean principles.
