CNC Router Operator (Temporary - Up to 6 Months)

At Astley, we're looking for an experienced CNC Router Operator to join our manufacturing team on a temporary contract for up to six months.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with CNC machining experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced production environment and takes pride in producing high-quality finished products.

The Role

As a CNC Router Operator, you'll be responsible for setting up and operating CNC routing machinery to manufacture products to the highest quality standards.

You'll also help ensure machinery is well maintained and that production runs efficiently while following all health and safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate 3-axis CNC Routers, including AXYZ and Tekcel machines.
  • Set up and run CNC machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Create and amend CNC programs using VCarve CAM Software (depending on experience).
  • Manufacture products accurately to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Carry out quality inspections to ensure products meet dimensional and finish requirements.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, including monitoring sacrificial boards, greasing runners and moving components, and resolving minor machine issues.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards and complete 6S responsibilities within the work area.
  • Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved.

About You

We're looking for someone who is reliable, quality-focused and enjoys working as part of a collaborative manufacturing team.

You'll ideally have

  • Previous experience operating CNC machinery within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating 3-axis CNC Routers.
  • The ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • A proactive approach to machine maintenance and problem-solving.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work efficiently to production deadlines.
  • Experience with AXYZ or Tekcel CNC Routers, VCarve CAM Software, Automatic Letter Benders (ALB) or FLOW Waterjet machinery would be advantageous, but is not essential.
