Position Overview

We are seeking a teaching assistant at Level 2B to support pupils with SEN across the school.

Key Responsibilities (Teaching Assistant Level 2B)

  • Support learning activities for individuals and small groups of pupils.
  • Help monitor pupil progress and contribute to individual targets.
  • Build positive, nurturing relationships with pupils to promote progress and attainment.
  • Support pupils’ personal, social and emotional development.
  • Assist with classroom organisation, resources and administrative tasks.
  • Support positive behaviour and inclusion strategies.
  • Provide short‑term class cover when required.
  • Work closely with teachers, parents/carers and other professionals.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree and QTS.
  • Evidence of CPD – SEND/curricular (including specialist SEN strategies).
  • Experience teaching pupils with a range of SEND within a primary or special school setting.
  • Working knowledge of assessment procedures and ability to analyse and utilise data to support progress.
  • Excellent ICT skills.
  • Experience of leading a subject, long‑term project or initiative.
  • Experience of multi‑disciplinary working.
  • Experience and confidence in managing pupils whose behaviour can be challenging.
  • Experience of working with or caring for children (desirable but not essential).
  • Team Teach intermediate training (desirable).
  • NVQ Level 2 or above qualification – appropriate to the post (or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in English/Literacy and Maths/Numeracy.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience of working in a relevant classroom/service environment.
  • Experience of administrative work.
  • Experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
  • Relevant Child Care Qualification (or equivalent).

Working Conditions
