Opening at the beginning of May, Astha’s is a new cafe and restaurant in St Johns Wood, serving home-style Indian breakfast and lunch dishes with a British influence. We’re on the lookout for passionate and skilled people to join our opening team and are recruiting for an experienced, proactive full-time Cafe Manager to start immediately. This is a hands-on role for someone who’s confident running the day-to-day operations of a cafe – from managing rotas and maintaining stock levels to making sure the team is working well and customers are looked after. You will work closely with co-owner Astha, who for the first few months will be focused on the kitchen.
We are a small startup team, so experience working in a specialty cafe is essential; we can provide external training where needed, but you need to be barista trained and comfortable with all aspects of coffee.
Some requirements:
- Proven experience, ideally within a café (or similar) setting with team management.
- Happy to work weekends during our first six months.
- Passionate about working with specialty coffee and quality food.
- Confident understanding of dialling in, extraction, steaming and latte art.
- A communicative team player who is eager to support and uplift their peers.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to multitask.
- Be flexible, dependable and self-motivated.
Your duties:
- Focus on delivering outstanding customer service by engaging with customers and addressing any concerns promptly.
- Supervise, manage and motivate a small team to create a positive working environment.
- Hot & cold beverage preparation.
- Efficient rota and shift planning.
- Stock & supplier management (chemicals/coffee/packaging).
- Staff management & recruitment.
- Organising equipment maintenance & servicing.
- Oversee Food & Health Safety protocols and ensure compliance with health regulations at all times.
