Asterix exists for one reason: to fix the biggest problem in healthcare: there are not enough doctors, and the system can no longer keep up. Millions of patients wait weeks for appointments. Millions more are stuck on hospital waitlists. Preventable conditions are missed and go unnoticed.

Asterix is building the only scalable solution: a new model of care where highly-qualified doctors are augmented by AI to make safer, more consistent clinical decisions. Our DoctorOS platform is becoming the backbone of modern healthcare delivery. We combine rigorous clinical leadership, real-world healthcare workflows, and AI tooling that makes doctors 10x more productive.

Your mission: build the platform that clinical AI runs on. As our Founding DevOps / Platform Engineer, you will design, build, and own the infrastructure and platform foundations that power DoctorOS in production. You’ll operate at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, reliability engineering, security, and developer experience, building systems that must be highly available, auditable, secure, and compliant in real clinical environments.

This is a true founding role. You will define how infrastructure is provisioned, deployed, secured, monitored, and scaled across the company from early experimentation to mission-critical clinical workloads.

You will own:

  • Design and operate our AWS-based platform to support production clinical and AI workloads.
  • Build secure, scalable environments across multiple stages (dev, staging, prod).
  • Make thoughtful trade-offs between speed, cost, reliability, and compliance.
  • Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Define all infrastructure using IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar). Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for applications, infrastructure, and ML systems. Ensure deployments are repeatable, observable, and low-risk.
  • Reliability, Observability & Security: Own uptime, performance, and incident response for core systems. Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and tracing across the stack. Design for fault tolerance, graceful degradation, and fast recovery. Embed security best practices: IAM, secrets management, network isolation, and auditability. Build internal tooling and patterns that make engineers productive by default. Enable fast, safe experimentation without compromising production reliability. Reduce cognitive load through good abstractions, documentation, and standards.
  • Compliance & Clinical-Grade Systems: Help shape infrastructure that meets healthcare expectations around data protection, auditability, and access control. Work closely with engineering and clinical stakeholders to ensure trust in the platform.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product, backend, data, and AI engineers. Act as a multiplier for the whole team by unblocking delivery and raising the bar. Help define technical standards and shape the engineering culture as the team grows.

What we need from you: We don’t care about pedigree. We care about what you’ve built and how you think. You’ll thrive here if you have:

  • Strong experience as a DevOps, Platform, or Infrastructure Engineer.
  • Deep hands-on experience with AWS, including services such as EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch.
  • Production experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
  • A solid understanding of containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes or ECS).
  • Experience with AWS SAM/CloudFormation for serverless infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Supabase for managed PostgreSQL and authentication.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines for serverless applications (GitHub Actions preferred).
  • Experience with structured observability (CloudWatch Insights, X-Ray, or Datadog) for distributed serverless systems.
  • Experience designing reliable, scalable, and secure systems.
  • Familiarity with observability tools (metrics, logs, alerts) and incident response.

Why join now: Because you want to do the most meaningful, high-leverage work of your career early enough that your fingerprints are on everything. This role lets you:

  • Build the platform behind modern healthcare.
  • Enable safe, scalable clinical AI in production.
  • Own infrastructure that clinicians and patients rely on.
  • Learn faster than anywhere else.
  • Earn meaningful equity while shaping the company from day one.

If you want to build platform infrastructure that truly matters, this is it.
