Generic Housing Officer – Guildford, GU1 3AA, United KingdomAre you a housing professional looking to make a difference?  If so please keep reading.The role of a Generic Housing Officer will see you out and about in our communities, working with our customers and colleagues to provide a safe and reliable landlord service.  You will experience a mixture of housing related queries working as part of a team and your patch will include Guildford and the surrounding areas including Liphook, Borden, Farnham, Horsham, Cranleigh, Crawley and Redhill.  To be really supportive to your customers, we are looking for candidates who live in or very close by this region.What you’ll be doingYou’ll oversee and manage a specific geographical patch of multi-tenure properties looking after tenancy and estate management, lettings, and anti-social behaviour so you’ll be experienced in all areas of housing management,As mentioned, you’re unlikely to have two days of the same and most likely, no day will go as planned due to the variety and pace of the workload, so being flexible in your approach to work is essential. You’ll be juggling priorities and casework and you’ll thrive on the challenge of the role.  It’s likely that you’ll spend around 60% of your week in the community so being happy to travel is really important to the role.You’ll be regularly speaking with our customers on the phone, face to face and by letter so being able to deliver messages in a clear way and managing expectations will come naturally to you. You’ll also be working with loads of teams internally too, including the wider housing teams and our repairs and maintenance colleagues, so you’ll build up a strong support network quickly.

There’ll also be contact with external agencies such as the police, local authorities, and social services.About youYou’ll be resilient and able to manage a changing workload at a moment’s notice whilst meeting deadlines. Time management will be a strong skill of yours. You’ll be confident using IT specifically Microsoft office software and housing management databases.

If you have experience of using CBL systems for shortlisting and allocating that would be an advantage.You’ll be confident delivering outcomes to customers and liaising with a variety of people to get the job done. Having a focus on customer service is instrumental in everything you’ll do.As you’ll be out and about in our communities, having access to a vehicle for work and a full UK driving licence is essential.  When not out and about in our communities you’ll be able to work from home if that suits you.  You’ll receive full support from your colleagues and will have those working in nearby patches as a network you can obtain support from.What’s in it for meWe invest in our colleagues because we know if they have a better day at work, the service our customers receive will be better.
