Job Purpose:

  • Provide instrumentation and DCS/Systems execution support for projects and turnaround instrumentation scope.
  • Provide Planning, scheduling, costing & Ordering for approved TA & Project scope.
  • Must have experience to interact with multiple discipline engineers and operations for planning & execution activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and support complex troubleshooting during major turnarounds.
  • Support technical training to contractors pertaining to Quality Control.
  • Provide execution and engineering support for Projects & TA.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that HSSE considerations are consistently treated as high priority throughout engineering, construction, and turnover.
  • Maintain compliance with the project & TA safety assurance plan to ensure that work is accomplished in an environmentally sound manner using safe work practices, following company HSSE policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the project & TA construction Risk Assessment process prior to contractor mobilization and conduct Safety Observation and Conversations at the job sites to help achieve Goal Zero.
  • Provide support and inputs to contractor risk assessments and mitigation plans supporting the use of tools such as a Job Hazards Analysis and daily Task Hazard Assessments.
  • Design, review, and support implementation of instrumentation systems.
  • Interpret and work with technical drawings including Single Line Diagrams, P&ID (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), Wiring diagrams and loop drawings.
  • Provide technical support for installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Assist in scope gathering, scope optimisation for the TA using the database.
  • Under the direction of the TA Manager, the Instrument Engineer is responsible for all Instrument planning functions of the approved turnaround scope items for the assigned units.
  • Provide input into the scheduling of projects & TA to meet project milestones and maintain construction resources to acceptable levels.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Diploma/Graduate Degree in engineering discipline (Electrical/Instrument) or equivalent technical work experience in the electrical/instrumentation trade.
  • Minimum 5 to 10 years of Project execution/construction experience for Instrumentation & Systems.
  • Experience in Bukom and Oil & Gas is an added advantage.
  • Strong Planning, Coordination and Stakeholder management skills in managing and executing projects with significant Instrumentation and Systems scope.
  • The instrumentation execution engineer is expected to lead the front in all matters of instrumentation execution including the developing of the execution plan.
  • Strong understanding of field installation, construction, and commissioning of instrumentation, including quality control/full functional testing, complex troubleshooting of field equipment, FAT/SAT.
  • Execution Experience in a major turnaround is an added advantage.
  • Experience with DCS/IPS/SCADA/F&G systems is mandatory.
  • Ability to understand and articulate complexities and risks during new instrumentation/logic tie-ins to existing LIVE systems.
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of field instruments Installation and troubleshooting.
