Building on the foundation of Singapore’s first oil refinery, the business plays a critical role in supporting supply, commercial performance, and operational capabilities for Singapore and Southeast Asia. Aster has a refinery with capacity of more than 300,000 barrels per day with ongoing asset rejuvenation, alongside a 1.1 million metric ton naphtha cracker on Pulau Bukom, and 2.5 million metric tons of downstream chemical assets on Jurong Island.
We are looking for an experienced Instrumentation Maintenance Specialist to support maintenance and reliability activities for analyser and instrumentation systems within our production facilities on Pulau Bukom. This role involves hands‑on troubleshooting, maintenance execution, and coordination of field instrumentation activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Technology, and Maintenance teams to support routine maintenance, plant troubleshooting, turnaround activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Perform hands‑on maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of analyser and instrumentation systems within the plant.
- Support maintenance and reliability activities for Gas Chromatographs (GC), Fire & Gas systems, PLC systems, and associated field instrumentation.
- Execute routine, preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities in accordance with HSSE and operational requirements.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules and work activities to ensure timely and quality execution of tasks.
- Liaise closely with Operations, Engineering, Technology, and Procurement teams to support maintenance planning and work execution.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with engineering standards, statutory requirements, and company procedures.
- Monitor maintenance progress and provide timely updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Identify recurring equipment or system issues and recommend practical improvement solutions to enhance reliability and performance.
- Support Management of Change (MOC) processes and plant turnaround activities where required.
- Ensure compliance with cyber security requirements relating to OT and IT systems.
- Minimum NITEC in Control, Electronics, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or related disciplines, with at least 7 years of engineering or maintenance experience in oil & gas, chemical, or petrochemical plant environments.
- Candidates with a Diploma or Degree in Control, Electronics, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, or related disciplines, with relevant industry experience, are also welcome to apply.
- Experience in Gas Chromatograph (GC) maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with Fire & Gas systems and PLC systems such as Prosafe.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, instrument data sheets, and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multi-disciplinary operations environment.
- Knowledge of DCS, IPS, Foundation Fieldbus, PRM, or SAP-based maintenance systems would be advantageous.
- Experience supporting Ethylene Cracker Complex (ECC) operations would be an added advantage.
