Team Leader – Production Team Member

Lead the Production Line Team to achieve daily targets relating to Safety, People, Quality, Delivery and Cost. Support with improvement team activities and develop your team. Conduct area audits and follow through with corrective actions.

Key Accountabilities and Activities:

  • Co-Ordination of Team
  • Conduct team meetings.
  • Drive weekly cascade meetings, following Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost issues.
  • Ownership of allocated team; KPIs and team co-ordination.
  • When an issue arises, take initiative to resolve / co-ordinate team (incl. shift Technical support staff).
  • Ensuring all production targets are understood, communicated and delivered.
  • Highlight improvement opportunities and training gaps.
  • Team motivation and engagement.

Health & Safety

  • Drive good health and safety practices within the designated area.
  • Conduct Risk assessments, general daily safety checks and ensure compliance of team.
  • Environment – control of energy / material waste within the shift.
  • Contain and escalate safety and environmental topics.
  • Ensure good 5s of the work environment.

Problem Solving

  • Respond quickly to line issues, co-ordinating the support staff where required and conducting initial investigation, escalating where required.
  • Driving improvements and prioritising actions to achieve line targets & KPI’s.
  • Support RCCA where required.

Training & Development

  • Coach and mentor PTM’s to understand and improve overall line performance.
  • Provide team members with regular feedback and coaching opportunities.
  • Identify individual training needs and utilise wider team to obtain relevant training.
  • Training completion records to be kept up to date and delivery of training / competency checks to be conducted.

PTM Performance & Motivation

  • Encouraging & supporting PTM’s to achieve line, team & Skill Block requirements, including personal performance criteria.
  • Discussing and reporting key issues to next level.
  • Continuously communicate performance topics and develop PDPs with your team.

Standard Operations

  • Support development and audit performance against line documentation.
  • Provide feedback to relevant stakeholders where documentation requires improvement.

PTM Duties

  • Carry out normal PTM duties to free up your team for improvement activities, when required.

Key Competencies

  • Worked within fast moving goods production, team engagement and performance management of teams.
  • Worked with a KPI orientated business.
  • Team Leadership Experience, Product Knowledge and Industry Experience, Leadership Skills.
  • Strong Oral and Written Communication Skills, Motivational Skills, Results-Oriented, Employee Training Experience, Interviewing Skills, Self-Motivation.
  • Strong Relationship Building, Wellbeing of Team and Difficult Discussions.
  • NVQ, ILM qualifications in leadership.
  • Risk assessment training.
  • Microsoft O365 software/programs.
  • Continuous improvement activities.
