The Opportunity: This role is ideal for a visionary and capable leader to develop and execute the Astellas GU Oncology franchise strategy, including emerging areas such as Lung Cancer treatment. As a motivated leader, you will manage a team of physicians and development scientists to achieve our Oncology development goals, forming strong internal and external alliances and communicating our vision effectively.

Key Activities:
- Guide the development, review, and approval of clinical study designs and protocols, ensuring proper governance.
- Collaborate with other Medical Leads and senior leaders across Oncology, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, and Pharmacovigilance.
- Develop and retain a high-performing team of physicians and scientists.
- Contribute strategically to clinical development planning, trial execution, and regulatory submissions.
- Partner with Pharmacovigilance to ensure safety standards and effective communication of safety information.
- Assist in preparing clinical program budgets and manage team budgets, including travel and expenses.
- Participate in Oncology Leadership Teams to shape the strategic direction of the franchise.
- Ensure high-quality medical review of licensing opportunities and business development activities relevant to GU Oncology and Emerging Areas.
- Apply extensive experience in pharma drug development, especially in GU Oncology and Lung Cancer.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate and execute strategies effectively to internal and external audiences.
- Lead and develop talent within the team, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Manage multiple clinical project budgets and departmental finances.
Education: MD or MD-PhD with board certification in medical or surgical oncology.
Additional Information: This is a full-time, permanent role based at our Addlestone office in the UK. The role follows our hybrid work model, requiring some home working and at least one day per quarter in the office, with flexibility based on business needs.
