This position is based out of our UK, Bourne office. It is a 6-month fixed term contract and operates on a hybrid working model.

Purpose and Scope

  • Provides multi-country policy expertise and HR generalist knowledge to support and educate leaders, managers, and associates on all People topics.
  • Resolves employee relations issues, provides support and advises leaders on HR-related matters & policies.
  • Delivers multi-country Case Management (underperformance, disciplinary, grievance and sickness absence), business changes, in-country projects, and cyclical HR processes.
  • Ensures legally compliant HR service in line with identified needs.
  • Provides data and insights on activity volume, trends, issues, concerns and success stories.
  • Acts as change agent and champion for the Global HR Operations Model.
  • Works closely with other HR Operations teams, across the broader HR function and directly with the business.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provides sound advice and guidance to managers and employees on a variety of employee relations issues (multi-country).
  • Manages a portfolio of business change and multi-country projects in collaboration with HRBPs.
  • Supports HR Business Partners and Centres of Excellence to execute the delivery of cyclical HR processes.
  • Handles all employee relations Case Management (underperformance, disciplinary, grievance and sickness absence).
  • Delivers a multi-country, legally compliant HR service in line with identified needs.
  • Manages the People Partner team.
  • Maintains continual improvement to identify opportunities for improving HR services.
  • Proof-reads translations of HR policy documentation and provides country specific technical HR guidance where needed.
  • Acts as a thought partner to HRBPs and other HR Sub-Divisions to ensure that global solutions work locally.
  • Executes activity on behalf of CoE teams for processes outside the scope of services provided by the Global HR Service Delivery.

Employee Relations Case Management

  • Provides solutions to resolve escalated case management queries.
  • Advises managers and employees on employee relations issues and policy interpretation.
  • Supports management of Union / Works Council and provides support to ER CoE.
  • Monitors and tracks trends to proactively identify issues and opportunities.
  • Escalates complex case management queries to People Partner Cluster Lead, HRBP, Employee Relations as appropriate.

Change & Continuous Improvement Agent

  • Provides mentorship and counseling on local policies and processes.
  • Delivers trainings and workshops for local leadership teams and various employee populations on HR topics.
  • Draws people insights from real-time reports to identify and address improvement opportunities.
  • Acts as interface to other Organisation HR Sub-Divisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Degree level education or equivalent, or professional HR qualification.
  • Solid experience as an HR generalist with deep understanding of HR fundamentals (recruitment, performance management, employee engagement, compensation, development, employee relations).
  • Experience managing high-risk employment-related cases from intake to investigation to resolution.
  • Strong collaborator, authentic, transparent, and aligned with Astellas values and code of conduct.
  • Proven success partnering and collaborating with stakeholders cross-functionally and at all levels.
  • Strong analytical skills and sound judgement based on policies, procedures, practices and risk factors.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, inspiring trust and confidence, influencing decisions.
  • Self-starter capable of managing a varied workload to a high standard.
  • Experience across core HR functions (compensation, benefits, performance management, etc.) with experience in HR process design, transaction support and employee administration.
  • Fluent in English and at least one other European language.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management Tools and Techniques.
  • Continuous Improvement knowledge.
  • Computer skills, including MS Office and Outlook.
  • Broad understanding of the HR employee lifecycle.
