Location and Working Environment
The role is field‑based with some travel within the UK (South West England). Candidates must be located in the territory and be able to attend meetings in the office when required. Astellas’ Responsible Flexibility Guidelines Statement – hybrid working is offered, allowing time to connect with colleagues at the office with the flexibility to also work from home.
Purpose & Scope
Ensures seamless patient access to all Astellas Oncology products through strong account management and well‑executed plans across the territory. Focuses on growing the Oncology portfolio within each account to improve sales, market share, and profitability. Acting as a trusted expert, brings deep product, therapeutic, and payer knowledge along with an understanding of local and regional dynamics. Develops and implements effective account plans, builds strong long‑term relationships with key customers, and supports them in ways that benefit patients, the customer, and Astellas. Collaborates with internal teams to remove obstacles, execute plans successfully, and exceed targets.
Role and Responsibilities
- Accountable for delivering the sales target for the territory, recognised as the local NHS expert and simplifying the evolving NHS landscape.
- Maintains strong relationships with key NHS stakeholders across all levels—primary, secondary, tertiary, and payer settings—while developing and owning the territory business plan, influencing the regional account plan, and feeding into the national plan.
- Develops local sales forecast and contributes to the regional forecast, supporting the RBM in creating and delivering the regional business plan.
- Achieves territory sales targets by driving call rates, coverage, and frequency with identified customers and engaging payors, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, GPs, and other decision makers.
- Reviews and updates value and access account plans in line with NHS and local health economy changes, developing and executing local value propositions with clinical and payer stakeholders, and creating an optimal access environment for advocates championing specialty brands.
- Identifies and builds relationships with clinical and non‑clinical decision makers, aligning products and services to their needs, and creates multi‑layer influencer maps.
- Provides market insights to the regional team, implements advocacy development plans, and ensures key customers endorse treatment in first‑ or second‑line positions.
Required Qualifications
- Proven Key Account Management skills with demonstrable success in exceeding business goals.
- Experience in Key Account Management within secondary care and a desire to move to Oncology.
- Ability to work with complex clinical data sets.
- Demonstrable ability to build strong lasting relationships with all customer groups and internal stakeholders.
- Life science degree or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous success as an Oncology KAM with experience within Prostate Cancer and/or Urothelial Cancer desirable.
- Experience working private accounts.
