LOCATION: Astec Europe, Omagh
ABOUT THE POSITION
This new exciting role of Senior Technical Support Engineer will be working within a highly skilled and energetic team locally, backed by our North American team filled with a heritage of experience from the Astec brands. This exciting role will be based at our Astec Europe headquarters in Omagh, Northern Ireland. The role will include supporting our current Telestack products and also our new product of mobile tracked crushers & screeners. As we continue to expand our product range, more opportunities will arise to champion additional products. With the role, there will be opportunities to travel to our customers' sites and work on the equipment to gain first-hand experiences, accelerating knowledge and experience on the products and the industries we serve.
Deliverables & Responsibilities
- Provide product support to dealers and customers worldwide.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues remotely.
- Utilize our Case Management System to integrate support functions.
- Collaborate with internal departments to document and resolve technical issues.
- Engage with the NPI team to enhance product reliability.
- Support Quality Improvement Team (QIT) initiatives to identify root causes and resolve manufacturing, assembly, and design issues.
- Develop technical solutions and procedures for customers and dealers.
- Adhere to Health and Safety policies and regulations at all times.
- Occasionally travel to customer sites to deliver technical solutions.
- Provide training and mentoring of junior personnel and placement engineers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment. Duties include a typical office setting including extensive computer work, sitting or standing. Required Criteria
- Minimum of 4 years experience working with mobile plant (i.e. quarry, mining, agriculture, forestry machinery).
- Have a proactive and courageous approach to safety.
- Strong customer focus and service mindset.
- Solid mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic knowledge and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical/hydraulic schematics.
- Technically minded with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently and in teams.
- Confident and articulate in meetings.
- Willingness and availability to travel occasionally.
- Minimum time served apprenticeship/Qualification in a related discipline.
- Ability to work effectively across diverse cultures.
- Valid clean driver's license and passport.
Desired Criteria
- Minimum of 4 years experience working with conveying, crushing and/or screen mobile plant.
- Third-level education (HND or above) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- AC electrical qualification or experience.
