As a Trainee Assembly Technician, you will be at the heart of our manufacturing process. This role is perfect for someone with a practical mindset who is eager to develop their experience in a world-class manufacturing environment. You will report to the Production Lead and work closely with experienced colleagues and mentors to learn the ropes.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Assembling, fitting, and installing components for Astec's innovative equipment.
- Using a variety of hand, power, and pneumatic tools to complete tasks to the highest standard.
- Following technical drawings, digital models, and work instructions.

About The Role
As a Trainee Assembly Technician, your day-to-day will be a hands-on experience in building world-class machinery. You'll work with fabricated and machined parts, using a range of tools to assemble components according to detailed drawings and digital models. This isn't just a job; it's a craft you will learn and perfect with the guidance of experienced mentors and team leaders.
This role offers fantastic growth opportunities. You'll start with defined tasks and, as your skills develop, you will take on more complex challenges, including basic adjustments and rework. Required Criteria
- A strong practical aptitude and a genuine interest in mechanical assembly and machine building.
- Ability to carefully follow both verbal and written instructions.
- A willingness to learn how to read assembly drawings, digital models and technical information.
- Good attention to detail with a strong commitment to safe working practices and quality workmanship.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work to production standards and deadlines.
- Ability to work respectfully and effectively as part of a team and accept constructive feedback.
Desired Criteria
- Previous experience in manufacturing, engineering, construction, agriculture, vehicle maintenance or another practical environment.
- Basic experience using hand or power tools, gained through work, education or personal projects.
- Basic computer confidence for accessing work instructions and recording production information.
- Relevant vocational, engineering or mechanical training.
