Notpla is a sustainable packaging company developing natural alternatives to single‑use plastic. The Impact & Sustainability Lead will manage our impact and sustainability workload across technical, policy, and commercial workstreams.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Evidence & impact measurement – build and maintain a full picture of Notpla's environmental impact through LCA portfolio management, GHG/carbon accounting, hotspot analysis and end‑of‑life projects; own the annual Impact Report and set the roadmap for future initiatives.
  • Policy & advocacy – lead engagement with stakeholders (Natural Polymers Group, Defra, EU Commission, etc.) and monitor developments in EPR, PPWR, SUP Directive and plastic packaging tax.
  • Knowledge & communications – translate complex impact work into clear messaging for internal teams, clients, suppliers and industry; support marketing with content and visuals.
  • Commercial support – provide impact evidence to sales, BD and product teams, respond to client sustainability queries and support R&D decisions with ad hoc material assessments.
  • Stakeholder engagement – represent Notpla externally, build and maintain relationships with government bodies, regulatory stakeholders and industry groups.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a sustainability background, e.g.: Experience in packaging or food services sustainability, supply chain, certifications or impact reporting; Experience in a start‑up or innovation environment in relevant fields such as material science or bio‑based materials; Experience working on packaging or circular economy policy in the UK or EU (EPR, plastic packaging tax, PPWR, SUP Directive).
