As India’s leading auction house, AstaGuru are now expanding our global footprint across the UK and Singapore. We are seeking an exceptional Jewellery Specialist to join our London team and play a pivotal role in this international expansion. This role is designed for an expert who is well-versed in the global luxury market. The ideal partner will bring an established international network, and the commercial acumen required to navigate the global jewellery industry.
The blueprint of your role:
- Sourcing & Curation: Source, evaluate and secure jewellery objects for auction, working alongside the Head of Department to procure exceptional pieces.
- Strategic Pipeline Development: Partner with the London leadership team to develop a long-term sourcing strategy across the UK and Europe, building a robust short, mid, and long-term pipeline of property for auction and private sale.
- Proposals and Valuations: Alongside the head of department, lead collection valuations and consignment proposals, positioning AstaGuru as a destination for the sale and acquisition of fine jewels.
- Targeted Client Development: Partner closely with the Client Development team to identify key buyers, developing specialized, high-touch selling strategies for premium lots.
- Brand Ambassadorship: Represent AstaGuru during presale exhibitions, VIP previews, and private viewings, driving face-to-face engagement and private sales.
- Cultivate Networks: Expand and nurture relationships with global collectors, patrons, dealers, and institutional clients to sell and cross-market luxury categories.
- Scholarship & Content: Catalogue all lots sourced for auction and private sale, and produce original content for sale catalogues and digital output.
The profile of the ideal specialist:
- Work Experience: 5+ years of success performing similar advisory and business‑getting duties within a major international auction house or an internationally recognized high jewellery maison.
- Gemological Authority: GIA/FGA qualified (or equivalent) with deep academic, market, and historical knowledge of fine jewellery.
- Academic Degree: A Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Gemology, Luxury Management, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.
- Commercial Acumen: A proven track record of initiating high‑value business, balancing relationship management with profitability.
- Discretion: A commitment to client confidentiality and professional integrity.
- Agile Collaboration: Driven and entrepreneurial, with the ability to manage complex deadlines independently while operating within a fast‑paced, global environment.
