This role supports the delivery of high-profile refurbishment and conversion projects across Central London, transforming existing office buildings into hotels and residential apartments. The Design Manager will manage the design process from concept through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, compliantly, and to a high standard in a fast-paced, design-led environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate the full design process across multiple projects
- Lead design team meetings with architects, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders
- Review drawings, specifications, and technical submissions to ensure quality and buildability
- Coordinate architectural, structural, MEP, and interior design information
- Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, planning conditions, and statutory requirements
- Identify and resolve technical and design-related issues throughout the project lifecycle
- Work closely with construction and project teams to maintain programme and delivery targets
- Monitor consultant performance, deliverables, and project timelines
- Support value engineering exercises while maintaining design quality and operational requirements
- Assist with procurement coordination and contractor engagement where required
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Design Manager within construction, development, or main contracting
- Strong experience delivering refurbishment, conversion, or mixed-use projects
- Experience within hotel, residential, or commercial developments is highly desirable
- Excellent technical and construction knowledge with strong attention to detail
- Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and construction processes
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and projects simultaneously
- Commercially aware with a proactive and solution-focused mindset
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Relevant construction, architecture, or engineering qualification preferred
