Job Description
The Ventilation Senior Engineer will be directed by the Principal Engineer and will be required to support the design through the end of Preliminary Design and then into Define. The Ventilation Senior Engineer is required to deliver the ventilation and building services work scope, including the production and checking of design deliverables, reporting directly to a Principal Engineer.
The role will involve guiding Designers in the production of:
- Detailed drawings
- Sub-assemblies
- General Arrangements (GAs)
- Layout drawings
- Flow diagrams
- Parts lists
The Ventilation Senior Engineer may also be required to produce calculations to verify detail design and provide design substantiation. Responsibilities will include the production and compilation of technical documentation such as:
- Technical specifications
- Risk Assessments (RA’s)
- Installation methodology documents
- O&M manuals
The Ventilation Senior Engineer will work closely with the multidisciplinary design team and plant-based teams. The role will support design activities across multiple work packs that impact ventilation conditions within an Alpha Plant. The Ventilation Senior Engineer will also be required to carry out ventilation assessments to support viable options for improving containment systems.
Competent use of 3D modelling packages is essential to share design progress during technical and project meetings.
Qualifications
- Experience working within a highly regulated industry, preferably within the nuclear industry.
- Recent experience in Nuclear Vent Plant design and the decommissioning of redundant plant would be advantageous, but not essential.
- A good understanding of the requirements associated with delivering ventilation designs within the nuclear sector.
- Experience in the production of technical files and supporting documentation.
- Experience of “Design for Assembly” within a nuclear facility.
- Experience in the production and development of nuclear ventilation plant layouts.
- Production and checking of ventilation engineering calculations and deliverables.
- Liaison with key stakeholders and other design disciplines.
- Competent report writing skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate findings.
- Comfortable working under time and cost constraints.
- The successful candidate will be expected to manage their own workload and drive completion of the work scope independently.
- Strong communication skills are essential, with the ability to engage effectively with both team members and Clients.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages, with a good understanding of 2D and 3D Autodesk CAD products.
- Experience using Pipenet would be highly beneficial.
