Job Description
Your mission
Assystem is growing fast — and our stress and structural integrity capability is growing with it. We’re looking for a Senior/Principal Stress Engineer who is ready to take the next step into a technical and capability leadership role, helping to strengthen, grow and develop our UK stress engineering community.
This is a hybrid role: you’ll deliver high-value technical work for clients while also shaping the direction, tools, talent and strategy of our stress capability.
What You’ll Do
- Lead complex stress and structural integrity assessments using FEA and hand calculations
- Review and approve technical work, representing Assystem confidently with clients
- Mentor and develop engineers, building future stress specialists
- Drive capability growth — training, methods, best practices, recruitment and retention
- Support bids and business development, working closely with Engineering Directors and Sales
- Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams in the nuclear and defence sectors
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
- To lead, build and guide a community of highly skilled stress engineers
- Strong background in stress analysis / structural integrity
- Expertise in FEA (ABAQUS, ANSYS, etc.) and relevant assessment codes (ASME, BS7910, R6 etc.)
- Experience in the nuclear or similar highly regulated sector
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working toward it
- Ability to develop and implement technical strategy and capability development
Additional Information
Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
