Senior Project Manager

Joint Project Manager – Ship lift Programme

This programme will lead the delivery of critical upgrade and maintenance works for the client's ship lift, a key facility supporting the UK's submarine fleet.

What you’ll do:

• Lead the planning, delivery, and completion of a complex engineering upgrade and maintenance programme.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
• Develop and maintain integrated project schedules and performance reporting.
• Coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders, including MoD, Babcock Marine, specialist contractors, and site management teams.
• Provide project governance, progress updates, financial reporting, and risk management.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues.
• Ensure compliance with defence, health & safety, environmental, and security requirements.
• Support audits, assurance activities, and quality control processes.

Experience What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience delivering complex engineering, infrastructure, or maintenance projects.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience managing schedules, budgets, risks, and project governance, change control.
• Ability to operate effectively within a multi‑agency and highly regulated environment.
• Knowledge of defence, nuclear, infrastructure, or heavy engineering projects is highly desirable.

Training & Qualifications:

• Formal project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, APM PMQ, MSP, or equivalent).

Additional information:

• Security – The incumbent of this role must have SC clearance and be a sole UK national.
• Working arrangements – Must be able to do hybrid working with the ability to attend the site 2‑3 days per week and/or meet business needs, as requested.
